Worlds of Magic: A Spiritual Successor to Master of Magic

If you've ever played a 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate) genre game, then you have probably already lost hours of sleep to the dangerously addictive Master of Magic. It came out when I was a kid and I've gone back to it a number of times in the last...19 years? Damn, that makes me feel old. Anyway it was an amazing game. It is terrifically customizable and has endless replay value...except that even the version updated to run better on Windows 7 machines still only runs as well as it did when it released. This is a game that more than anything just needs to run cleanly. Well it seems these nutty fans are making the game's spiritual successor, Worlds of Magic.

It may not be directly related to 40k, but I think these games would/do appeal to 40k gamers for their variety, customization and strategy. At the least, go click Steam's "I'd buy this" so it can get greenlit. I wanted to play this about a decade ago. Let's go already!

Bonus: An interesting interview by Adam Smith over at Rock, Paper, Shotgun, discussing Worlds of Magic with the lead designer and the producer from Wastelands Interactive.
